TrackBot is a project to place a robot that travels around a fixed track in the BrainSilo space.

The idea for TrackBot came when I wanted to get the webcam in BrainSilo fixed. More than just having a web cam though, I thought it'd be neat if we had an interactive device that people going to the website could see and use. This would allow people to see the space, play with something there, and encourage them to come out and do something cool.

TrackBot would have a wireless web camera sending data back to a server for a live feed from the space. At any time The user in control (permissions and time limit apply) may move the TrackBot with mounted camera around the space to see different areas and see what's going on. - The track that TrackBot runs on will be commonly available 2"-3" wide, aluminum strip with a thickness of about 1/16". This Strip would be mounted to the wall and travel around the whole of the space at a height of approximately 7-8 feet. This would keep TrackBot out of the way.

Beyond the design described below, Trackbot will utilize a small motor (DC or Stepper) to drive the bot around, a microcontroller and a wifi (or Xbee) radio for remote control.

Also proposed in running a "hot" line around with TrackBot's track providing a steady source of electricity. Trackbot would draw power much the same way a cable car does: Contact to the line.
